Muzz: As I said mate I want 15-40w. I have reasons for this, and can't locate the Royal Purple 15-40w on their site. I might be interested in it and I know it's expensive.
IPCOlsenVZ: thanks very much for the leads, and some good reading too. At the moment I'm leaning towards the Nulon because it seems popular, though I don't know much about Fuch's range...
Please see specifics of these oils and the operating temperatures you will work in as in some cases you may find it best to run differing weights over summer to say winter.
I used to use the Motul 300v 15w 50 in my Rex before going over to Redline 10w 40 until i sold it.
The Redline oils i had been put onto by a racing workshop i frequently visited.

I'm curious to know what your reasons are? Please tell.
Hi scooter79. I know when you mention oils on some forums it's like talking about religion so I didn't want my thread getting hi-jacked or off topic and that's the main reason why I was being very specific. The reason is no secret and it's just that FPV recommend this mix for all F6 and Ts, and they said if I use anything else then my warranty may be void. I don't know if this is 100% true but if the manufactorer is telling me that 15-40 is the correct weight and that I may run into warranty issues then I'll go with their recommendation.
I know alot of guys run a 10-40w and some of them don't even know what the recommended oil weight is. I think if they mod their cars then no problem as the warranty is void anyways, but if they plan on maintaining their warranty and take their cars to a tune shop for servicing THEN the tune shop should be using the recommended oil. I'm not going to mention any names of tune shops but I know many who don't even check and although they use a good quality they don't use the correct weight.

Madf6, I see your point. Firstly I would be using a full synthetic with a fairly new motor but I can't think of any full synthetic 15w40 that even exist. There's 15w/50 or 10w/40, but not what your after. Nulon have a mineral 15w/40. I personally use Nulon 10w/40 (synthetic) in my car and it's great. Havoline Extra is a 15w/40 and available through Caltex servos but don't know anything about it. My wife has a '91 Laser that gets fed Castrol GTX3 which is a 15w/40. Seems good, is cheap and available in a 6L bottle.
Whatever you choose, you really should change the oil and filter every 5000kms. Otherwise you're going to get some serious sludge build up.
Have you actually gone to the Ford dealer and asked what they recommend? I find that a lot of dealers just throw into cars whatever they have on hand. Go to two or three different dealers or ring around and ask what brand and viscosity they recommend and I bet you'll get a different answer each time.
I'm defo going to do a oil change myself every 5 - 7.5K from now on. Definately a good idea.
I rang around last week and they all use and recommend the Castrol GTX3, and all Ford dealers I spoke to recommended the correct 15-40w for the car. Yes - I was surprised...
The 2 best 15w40 around are Delo 400 Multigrade 15w40 from Safeway/Caltex servos and Big W, one of the best oils ever made, then Mobil Delvac MX 15w40 (also rebottled as Repco Diesel 15w40). Well priced, Semi synths, hard to beat, well proven.
the guys name is Harold, he gets the oil directly from the states. They come in single quart sizes so you can choose on how much you need instead of getting the standard 5L. He is def heaps cheaper than other retail stockists.
